EDITING STANDARDS

The Tarpan Group accepts manuscripts in the areas of our scientific expertise. We edit and clarify the written material provided, but do not create or alter concepts.
Tarpan editors will require the author to provide the 'Instructions for Authors' from the intended journal, to identify the journal's specific content standards.
General Editing Standards
The standards of the 5th edition of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) are used for manuscripts. See the Uniform requirements for manuscripts submitted to biomedical journals.

These standards are applied to manuscript preparation, and may or may not conform to the publication style of the journal, publisher, or institution  to which the manuscript is submitted.
General Format and Technical Standards
All material will be double-spaced and created in files using Microsoft®Word (.doc), Adobe®Acrobat (.pdf) or text (.txt) files.

Each section or component will begin with a new page.
Documents will consist of the following components, unless otherwise instructed by the author:  title page, abstract, text, acknowledgements, references, and tables.

The title page consists of: the title of the article; each author’s name, highest degrees, and academic affiliation; the institution to which the work should be attributed; disclaimers, if appropriate; name and address of corresponding author; and the source of research support, if any. The first author is responsible for the listing of authors and their order of listing, and for any acknowledgements.

Abstracts will be edited to a maximum of 250 words unless otherwise indicated by the author.

The text of observational and experimental works will be divided into: Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion, unless otherwise indicated by the author.

Permission to reproduce previously published material and transfer of copyright are the responsibility of the author.
The identification of key words are the responsibility of the author.

Reference style and journal abbreviations will conform to the formats used by the National Library of Medicine in the Index Medicus.
Each table will be printed double spaced on a separate sheet. Tables will be numbered consecutively, in the order in which they are cited in the text. Each table will have a title, and each column will have a short heading.  Explanatory material will be placed in table footnotes.
Units of measurement will be based on the International System of Units (SI). Standards for usage are described in detail in Uniform requirements for manuscripts submitted to biomedical journals.

Editing Process
The editing process consists of the development of a draft and a final manuscript. Authors will be provided with a draft-edited manuscript for initial review. Inconsistencies, omissions, or the need for clarification will be identified for the author. A final manuscript will be provided as two iterations, the draft edited manuscript including Tarpan and author comments, and a final clean copy.
Special editing services.
